Tuesday was Red Ribbon Day. We began with a little talk about drugs. I talked about good drugs and bad drugs. Good drugs are the kind the doctor or our parents give us when we are sick to help us feel better. Bad drugs are not. Some bad drugs are alcohol and cigarettes. Bad drugs can hurt our bodies. We want to stay healthy and treat our bodies right. We can do fun things to help our bodies. Exercise, sports, dance are all fun things we can do to stay healthy. Then we took a walk around the school premises to tie red ribbons on trees to show others that we "So No to Drugs!" After our walk we gathered in the gym for a Red Ribbon Assembly.
Wednesday we had a special visitor come talk our class about fire safety. Mr. McKermitt told the children not to play with matches, lighters or the stove/oven. He also taught them what to do if their clothes ever caught on fire. They need to remember to Stop! Drop! and Roll! He told them the phone number to call if they need to call for help. (911) This number can only be used if you really need help from the firefighters, police or paramedics. Then Mr. McKermitt talked about all his equipment that he wears to stay safe when fighting fires. At the end of the fire safety talk the children were able to try on any of his gear.
Thursday was our Halloween Party. I think it went rather well!! We began the day sitting in a circle passing out our trick or treats. Then we had some fun centers for the children to play in. There was Bozo Buckets, Shaving Cream Tables, The Mummy Wrap, Ghost Bowling, Beat the Clock Pumpkin Game, and a Pumpkin Craft. Below are a few of our pictures. More will be posted on the photos section of my web page.
