The school had a No Carve Pumpkin Decorating Contest. I had the children hammer golf tees into the pumpkin for the eyes and attached curling ribbon to some other golf tees for the hair. They also hammered in a Mr. Potato Head nose, mouth and ears. The final touch was a viking hat. I think he turned out pretty good. We were all very proud of our work. We then took a walk throughout the school to see all the other pumpkins. There were some really great pumpkins! I am so glad I did not have to be a judge, because I would have had a difficult time choosing a winner. (We did not win the contest...but we had fun. Hammering golf tees is a great eye-hand coordination activity.)
The children had to guess which ribbon would fit around one of our pumpkins. We had 5 different sized ribbons.
We painted jack-o-lanterns.
Below the children made Halloween witch hats. We will wear them on Halloween.
For Red Ribbon Day...I had a brief discussion about the dangers of drugs, smoking and alcohol. We then talked about things that we could do that are fun and good for our bodies. The children told me one thing that they like to do that is healthy. (Ride a Bike, Jump, Eat Healthy Foods and Take Vitamins)
